What are your strengths?
It is not always easy to speak about yourself to a stranger. It is especially difficult when that stranger is a potential employer. Do you fear that you will come across as bragging or big-headed if you tell them exactly why you are a great candidate and that you have so much to offer? You should absolutely sing your own praises in an interview! How is your interviewer to know what you have to offer if you donât tell them?!

Series: Awkward Teaching Interview Questions - Part 2
In the second post in my series about the questions that can be difficult to answer in an interview, is one where we are asked to be our own critic.
What are your weaknesses?
You may be wondering why an interviewer is looking for you to reveal weaknesses when surely, they expect only the most confident of responses from a good interviewee. Perhaps you are the one who is reluctant to show any weakness at all in an interview. We are all human; we all have our weaknesses.
Why ask?

Letâs start with one of the most difficult to answer; why you left/are leaving your latest position.
Why do you want to leave your current position? Why did you leave your last job?
This can be a tricky one! You areâŠ

Interview practice â Why should I bring positive energy into the interview room?
Interviews can be daunting but there are ways that you can make them less stressful. Believe it or not, some people enjoy the process! You may think that an interview is something you are beckoned to and that you are under scrutiny. Look at it from a different aspect; this is your chance to shine and you can add to the overall mood and tone of the interview.

Education Specialist: Why becoming a specialist in one specific area is really beneficial
Are you an 'all rounder' teacher? Do you think that you have to be an expert in every subject, in every methodology and in every extra-curricular activity?
Why becoming a specialist in one specific area is a really beneficial thing to do:
1. It makes you the 'go-toâ person for that area: Choosing to become the person on staff who promotes eg. Guided reading, nature studies, or drama techniques, will mean that others will gravitate towards you when they need help.

Things you can do to improve your energy and mood in interviews
I wanted to share with you, one massive observation that I'm seeing with many 1-1 interviews with clients recently. That is the effect ENERGY LEVELS have on interviewers and candidates during interviews. Even if you are nervous about interviews, it is important to note what kind of energy you are putting out there. If you convey nervousness and self-doubt, you are sending certain negative signals to the interviewer.
There is a lot you can do to help yourself and your interviewer feel more at easeâŠ
Making better applications to Educate Together and Community National Schools
This year, Iâm placing a huge amount of focus on helping teachers make better applications to Educate Together and Community National Schools.
Why?
Because their ethos is central to their beliefs and what makes them different.
Because they deserve teachers who are closely aligned with what they stand for.
Because developing an understanding of all religions is a vital element in accepting all pupils and their religious beliefs (or lack of them) and focusing on real diversity and inclusion.

Deputy Principal Interview Questions
The role of Deputy Principal is a position of great responsibility and support for all members of staff. If you have been chosen for an interview, it is a good idea to prepare yourself for the myriad of questions that you may be asked. Put yourself in the position of the interviewer; what is she or he looking for in âa next in commandâ and how can you show that you have the requisite skills and attributes to be that person. Here are a few questions to help you reflect.

4 âCV Dosâ
Your CV is a snapshot of your experience to date. This snapshot should be clear and concise, and when done effectively, 2 pages are certainly enough to convey all that you need a potential employer to know.
Here are some handy tips to help you lay out your CV in an effective way
1. If you have little/no subbing experience, DO put your current Teaching experience or Teaching Placements before your Education section.
An employer wants to know what kind of teaching experience you have. We can assume tâŠ
